Our daughter Janae has an adorable litter of Dachshund, born 9/24 available for adoption 12/10. We are cross-posting on her behalf since we won't have any puppies until 2021. For more information contact: Groomer1983@outlook.com or visit her web site; www.Coloradowheatens.com
DACHSHUND: aka "Walt's Weiner Dogs" - Parents: Stella and Willy Hair coat: Our Dachshund puppies are considered "Medium Coat". The reason they are not "short" nor "Long" hair is because there are both in their background. Medium coat means hair will be around 1.5 - 2.5" long.
Colors: a couple of the puppies are dark gray (not black) and tan, rare, and we will post colors on puppies with the new photos. None are dapple (spotted).
Size: We expect adult size to be 9-11 pounds 6-7 inches tall. Personalities, they are sweet and cuddly, love attention and will be ok with older children. We hesitate to place in young child households as the breed can have back issues, especially if handled incorrectly. They are long body, short legs, so by nature of the breed, a back can incur an injury. Also, they are not a dog you can let jump up and down furniture, for same reason. Children sometimes will have a pet on a couch and leave them there when they run to bathroom or other activity and dog/puppy will jump down to be with child as they are companion oriented. They are smart, alert and will be a watch dog. They will alert with barking when a stranger arrives, but are not a vicious breed, or with tendency to bite. However, you would want to be careful with them first meeting a strange person, child or dog, as they can feel protective and react accordingly.
Misc: Puppies should be old enough for new homes first week of December. We let puppies go at 10 -12 weeks of age. That is in their and your best interest for socialization, health and immunization status. Also easier to housebreak a bit older, and in a small breed you want them a bit older to make sure they are eating well and do not go hypoglycemic or get diarrhea.
Cost: Puppies will be $2000, plus 4% tax and will be micro chipped $30. We request an $800 deposit, refundable if once you meet puppies you do not like them or if the vet for any reasons determines they are not healthy. They will have vaccines and worming appropriate to age, will be vet checked by our vet and will come with health guarantees of 1 year. (Sample contract is on our web site).

To protect our breeding program and our breeding rights, our puppies are placed with limited AKC registration, or no registration. We require a neuter on all puppies. Our puppies are intended for pet homes only. We will NOT place a puppy to be used for breeding. If you want a dog to show, contact an AKC show breeder. Expect to pay 2-4 times a pet price for a show dog.
